How To Use Accessories To Switch Up Your Bridal Look

It used to be that girls would dream of that one special dress their whole lives, but these days it’s more like 2-3 (still very special) dresses. Even if you don’t plan on buying multiple bridal ensembles for your wedding day, be honest, a separate look for your ceremony and reception is THE DREAM.

For a lot of brides, buying two gowns is out of the question. Well, two gowns may be, but what about two looks? What if we told you that buying more accessories for your wedding could actually save you money and help you get two looks for the price of one?

How’s that for girl math? But in all seriousness, investing in multiple bridal accessories is a great way to switch up your look. And, if you do it right, it’ll cost a fraction of what it would be to purchase two or more gowns. If you have your heart set on multiple looks for your big day, make sure to tell your bridal stylist and to include accessories in your overall budget, then watch them werk!

Here are just a few of the ways to make the big switch…

Detachable Elements

While detachable elements have been around, they’re more popular than ever and our designers are getting more creative with every season. At your appointment, ask your consultant to show you gowns from collections that feature detachable elements. We recommend starting with a more is more look and removing elements as the night goes on. For example, for your ceremony, you could start in a full ballgown complete with long lace sleeves, then, for your reception you could rock a sleek strapless mermaid gown. Two COMPLETELY different looks and only one gown!

Headpieces

At Savvi we have so many great options when it comes to headpieces. From veils to tiaras and headbands, we’ve got it all! The best, most dramatic way to switch things up is to start with an epic veil. Whether it’s volume or details like beading and embroidery, the more dramatic and memorable, the better. Then, ditch the veil and sport a delicate crystal tiara or hairpins for your reception. While you’re at it, why not a cute headband for your exit look?

PRO TIP: Switch up your hairstyle between looks too. Wear an updo for the ceremony, put it down for the reception, then sweep it up into a quick bun or ponytail for your big exit. Ask your hairstylist to stay and help or DIY.

Jewelry

Now, it may seem that jewelry on its own isn’t enough to transform a look. And to that, we’d say…you’re right. We recommend using jewelry to level up your switch. Keep jewelry classic and understated for the ceremony (i.e. pearl studs, a simple solitaire necklace) and switch to something more celebratory and flashy for the reception.

Those are just some of the ways that our expert stylists at Savvi can help you get two looks for the price of one. Schedule your appointment today to see them work their magic in person. We can’t wait to see what you dream up!
