Traditionally, the color of a wedding dress is, well, white. However, things have not always been this way. In fact, the white wedding gown custom is only a mere 200 years old and it started during the Victorian Era in England, when Queen Victoria herself wore a white dress to her wedding.
These days, this tradition can be left aside if that is what you wish for. You can wear a blue dress, a red dress, or even a black one if that’s what makes you happy. It isn’t very common, as many brides still stick to the traditional white, but it can be done (and you should do it if it makes you feel great!).
Beyond colored wedding dresses, white gowns themselves come in a pretty large variety of shades as well. Then there are also the most popular variants include ivory and champagne – both of which come in a myriad of design options.
In general, as a rule of thumb, if you have a cool-toned skin, you should opt for an ivory or silvery white. If, however, you have a warmer toned skin, you might want to choose a warmer toned dress (such as a champagne white or something with gold inserts/ details).
